Love it and would pay the same, but they don't have it anymore (they have the wood-sided version). Nice to see that Amazon has a similar deck box, though with some lesser features I am told and smaller capacity. The one that I have is a nice storage box that looks very classy in comparison to other gray-beige boxes, especially from a distance (it is plastic/resin, after all). Good functionality (open/close, large storage capacity), but took me about 50 minutes to assemble and I am reasonably handy (I am a 7 out of 10 on a handiness scale). Unless you are looking for a natural fiber or real wood box, I think you will like this over most standard pool/deck boxes. Also, it is not made for use as a seat, so look elsewhere if you need that. PLEASE NOTE: The review above was corrected to reflect the comments made by a reader. I reduced the rating to 4 stars to reflect the lower capacity and functionality of this model. Hope this helps people make informed purchase decisions.

Assembly is a piece of cake if you read the directions first. It may be toolless if you don't mind banging it together with your bare hands, but I recommend having a rubber mallet around. For the price it should be more substantial; at 190 lbs., I'm not comfortable sitting on it.

Great to hold all things : Suncast DB5000 50-Gallon Deck Box

Looked nearby at deck boxes and thought this one might be a good choice based on the whole of safe bet reviews. Unfortunately, the small hinged portion on top of the lid is not at all weather-tight and fills will rain water. The rain water then runs down the two slots cut for the gas-assist cylinders into the interior or the box where it puddles in the lowest since there is no outlet for it.

Also, the hinges on the top lid failed after two months and probably no more than 12-15 openings and closings. They are extremely an extremely small molding given the size of the lid and the force put on it by the gas-assist cylinders. However, at the Suncast site I was able to order a new lid under warranty, so it may be that the new lid will have better-designed hinges. If not, I'll probably be ordering a new lid every few months until the warranty runs out.

My hint from this point forward would be to get a box with a one-piece domed lid and hope the hinging mechanism is better designed than this one. I'll fill the slots where the cylinders attach to the lid with silicone and that should stop the water caught in the top tray from spilling down inside the box. However, the tray will still catch water when it rains so the only real recourse to standing water in the lid is to seal the whole thing shut with silicone, thus creating a one-piece lid.

I hope Suncast reads these reviews and asks the designer (or establish team) "What were you thinking?" when you designed the box this way. I don't expect an cheap deck box to be a water-tight vault, but an inch of standing water in the lowest of the box just doesn't cut it...and the box is in a somewhat rain-protected area.

I'd be willing to give Suncast someone else try given the ease with which warranty aid is provided, but I would assuredly read over the reviews much more closely next time.

Easy to put together. I did it myself in 10 mins. Nice sturdy. But larger than I understanding it would be. Not thoroughly water proof but Ok for warehouse of deck and pool stuff. I would advise the product. But measure you spot first. Target sells the same item--but charges $36 shipping. Free shipping on Amazon--Yea!
